More than 30 architects met in the capital of Aragon last 26th and 27th of October in order to take part in a professional visit to the ongoing works of the Expo Zaragoza organised by the communication group Grupo Via, which is specialised in architecture and construction, in cooperation with the Saragossa International Exhibition.
Vitro attended this event as a visit sponsor, which made it possible for it to get acquainted with the current development of the project and with the concern of the numerous architects attending this meeting about the implementation of a sustainable architecture and the use of materials that may facilitate such a purpose.
The visit was opened last 26th of October, with the official presentation of the missive entitled “Carta del Ebro” by Carlos Labarta, coordinator of the document, and by Felix Larranz, one of the authors. The so-called “Carta del Ebro” is a manifesto endorsed by well-known architects whereby the guidelines for the integration of contemporary construction needs and of the implementation of a sustainable architecture that may comply with the environment protection demands.
After reading the manifesto, Pablo de la Cal, Head of the Project Department of Zaragoza International Exhibition, inaugurated the different events that formed part of the visit and explained the current situation and the development of the works of this International Fair to the participants.
Friday morning was closed with a lecture by Patxi Mangado, author of the Spanish Pavilion project, which was included in the itinerary of the afternoon visit to the Expo premises, as well as the Expo Office Building, by Basilio Tobias, and the Aragon Pavilion, by Arquitectos Olano-Mendo.
On Saturday there were lectures by Inaki Alday and Margarita Jover, concerning the Metropolitan Water Park, and by Fuensanta Nieto and Enrique Soberano, concerning the project of the Halls of Conference, which was visited afterwards, as well as the Water Tower, by Enrique de Teresa, and the event was closed with a visit to the Bridge Pavilion, by Zaha Hadid.
