ISOLAR® GLAS is thermal insulating glazing comprising of two or more panes of glass separated by an aluminium edge with a molecular mesh that absorbs residual humidity, thus preventing the formation of any condensation inside the air gap.
ISOLAR® GLAS glazing is manufactured using the latest technology machinery to ensure its insulating properties remain intact.
The aluminium edge separator, filled with dehydrating molecular mesh, is fitted with a butyl cord on each side. The butyl-impregnated edge is stuck to the panes of glass, thus forming the air gap. Once the components are assembled, a second sealant is applied (polyurethane or silicone) between the posterior part of the separating edge and the outside edge of the glass. This second insulation barrier means the gap is hermetically sealed.
The hermetically-sealed gap used by ISOLAR® GLAS allows a considerably higher level of insulation to be achieved than that obtained from a simple pane of glass. ISOLAR® GLAS glazing with a 12mm gap gives a U energy transmission rate of 2.8 W/m2K whereas a simple glass pane reaches levels of 5.8 W/m2K. Glazing with ISOLAR® GLAS reduces the energy loss through glass by 50%. The gap or chamber must be filled with a noble gas to further improve its insulating performance.
ISOLAR® GLAS glazing is marked with an seal on one of the panes identifying it and gives details of its place and date of manufacture. In addition to this seal, ISOLAR® is also printed on the inside edge of the aluminum. Authentic ISOLAR® glazing will always carry these identifying marks.
